Rachel Poole

Transition & Alumni Support Coordinator

Rachel started her career at Asheville Academy as a mentor in 2018 after completing a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. Her goal at the time was to move back to the mountains and find more meaningful work. Asheville Academy did not disappoint and Rachel soon moved into the role of Logistics Coordinator. During her two years doing logistics, she began graduate school to get her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lenoir-Rhyne University. As the Transition & Alumni Coordinator, she hopes to help families navigate the final leg of their journey at Asheville Academy and the first steps after.
Prior to AAG, Rachel received her undergraduate degree in Literature from UNC Asheville in 2009. She spent the decade between, working as a massage therapist and hospitality manager in the travel and tourism industry. Some of the places she has lived include Maui, Colorado, Alaska, & Cape Hatteras. Rachel hopes her curiosity and passion for exploration and creative problem solving will be an asset in helping families transition to their next phase. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, camping, cooking, writing, running, and adventure-seeking.
