Paul Hutchinson, Music Teacher
With 38 years of practical experience and 25 years of professional performing & teaching experience, Paul Hutchison is a veteran of musical performance & education. At age 11 Paul began studying classical guitar with acclaimed guitar teacher Eric Golding in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At age 16 Paul began to study jazz bass with local jazz legend Russ Weil before adding piano and drums to his growing skill set. During this time Paul began cultivating his lifelong passion for original composition and arranging by writing and collaborating on hundreds of songs to critical praise. In 1997 Paul began recording and touring North America with Juno award winner and Billboard charting Recording Artist Johannes Linstead, as well as internationally renowned classical guitarist Liona Boyd. In 1998 Paul opened his first remote teaching service focusing on providing personalized lessons in the comfort of the students home. 4 years later in 2002, Paul expanded his business by opening up his own music studio in Birmingham, Alabama where he added mandolin and ukulele to expand his studio’s marketing appeal. In 2012, with his partner Sarah and growing family, he moved to Washington D.C. where he studied voice with master vocal instructor Lynnel Randall before opening up a recording studio for those in search of an experienced studio engineer who was also adept at performing and arranging original compositions. Finally, in 2017, the Hutchison family relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, where Paul studied banjo with many of the local bluegrass professionals before opening up “The Paul Hutchison Studio of Music,” which is an accumulation of his wealth of knowledge and experience from his years as musical performer, instructor, multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, arranger, and studio engineer all under 1 roof.
