Camp for Troubled Girls Guides Texas Girls Toward Healing
Bullying. Low self-esteem. School refusal. Oppositional behavior, defiance, mental illness. For many families, a girl’s early adolescence is the first time that the above-mentioned issues begin to crop up – and, in many cases, it can seem like there is nothing that can be done to help. This feeling is often compounded by the failures of previous efforts, such as choosing a camp for troubled girls. While camps and other short-term programs may help temporarily, upon returning home, old patterns often return. Fortunately, this is where Asheville Academy can come in to help Texas families.
A therapeutic boarding school offering long-term treatment, Asheville Academy combines residential treatment with a boarding school in order to offer girls a unique therapeutic experience. At Asheville Academy there are no boundaries between academics and treatment; in fact, both serve to reinforce each other. With the Asheville Academy approach, struggling girls can receive the full schooling experience in a nurturing, safe environment. With a wide variety of activities – from the numerous approaches to therapy (such as animal and equine therapy) to fun lessons and outdoors events — Asheville Academy ensures that no two days are the same.
Although Asheville Academy is located in North Carolina, we accept struggling girls from all across the United States including Texas. With the help of Asheville Academy, girls troubled by a wide range of issues such as relationship troubles, mental health problems, or social skills issues can find their way to a healthy path.

Beyond a Camp For Troubled Girls: Asheville Academy Helps Struggling Texas Girls
Asheville Academy is far from an average camp for troubled girls and this is not simply due to the extended stays that Asheville Academy offers. For one, unlike most camps for troubled girls, Asheville Academy encourages interaction with the real world. While many programs choose to limit access to the outside, Asheville Academy works closely with the local community to ensure that our students get hands-on experience in seeing their effects on others. Volunteer work, for instance, helps our students explore the impact that they have on their surroundings and further reinforces the lessons and therapeutic progress achieved on campus.
Many of our students have had difficulty in a traditional school environment. At Asheville Academy, small class sizes led by professional teachers allow every student to get the attention and help they require for success. Therapy sessions help students learn teamwork and help each other become the best version of themselves possible. While the classes at Asheville Academy match the local curriculum, there are numerous electives, such as theater and art classes, that allow students to explore new passions and discover interests. When possible, experiential learning is used to reinforce the lessons and the connection between lessons and reality.
Texas girls 10-14 struggling with a wide range of issues (from school refusal to bullying to mental illness) are welcome to Asheville Academy’ beautiful North Carolina campus. With Asheville Academy, a troubled girl can return to a healthy path once again.
