residential treatment centers for depression

A Day in the Life

Predictability and consistency are two key components in helping a struggling girl reestablish balance in her life. Add in supportive staff, an expansive campus with dozens of animals, and a separate academic building full of licensed teachers, and you have one of the more respected residential treatment centers for depression, self-esteem, bullying, anger, and defiance.

At residential treatment centers for depression, students enjoy a consistent day mixed with activities, friendship, and education.

A Typical Weekday

  • 6:15 AM – 6:30 AM.  We start with morning self-care and chores such as cleaning rooms or making beds.
  • 7:00 AM. Students walk through the buffet line for breakfast with choices of steaming scrambled eggs and bacon,  delicious French toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, or a bowl of crunchy cereal.
  • 8:00 AM. We walk across the beautiful campus up to our separate school building. This physical distance between the two areas creates a great separation of “home life” and “school life.”
  • 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Students at residential treatment centers for depression are in core academic classes, such as English, math, science, social studies.[huge_it_gallery id=”24″]
  • 12:30 PM.  During lunch, each meal includes a fresh salad bar and vegetable.  Students have reported favorites including Philly cheese steak and homemade pizza! We also accommodate certain dietary restrictions such as allergies, gluten free, and vegetarian. After lunch, everyone works together to clean the dining hall and other necessary chores.
  • 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM. During this time at residential treatment centers for depression, we have a combination of therapist-led groups, physical education, clubs, and sports.  The afternoon may be made up of therapeutic groups, community service, music therapy, or electives (ex. Fine arts).
  • 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. During dinnertime, a student favorite is the pasta bar and taco day! Students help clean up afterwards, similar to all other meals.

  • 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM. During this time, girls make their scheduled family social calls, which they have twice a week. This is also time for focusing on reading, reflection, quiet play time, and personal hygiene
  • 9:00 PM. Lights out!

A Typical Friday

Fridays are dedicated to their 4-credit electives of drama and community service. We also end the day with Fantastic Friday. Fantastic Friday is earned by following expectations throughout the week and is–generally–movies, putt-putt, skating, and other off-campus cultural activities!

A Typical Weekend

On the weekends, our days start anywhere between 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM, so students get to sleep in for a bit! Weekends are the time that we do community service, off-campus activities, and animal care. We end the weekend with religious attendance opportunities (voluntary) and a deep clean of the rooms and living hall.

Unlike many other residential treatment centers for depression and other issues, our weekend schedule helps the girls continue to focus on the work they are doing during the week as well as learn to live in a community.

Though our weekend activities vary, they’re a great chance for girls to interact and develop healthy social skills for success when they return home. Activities vary from fine arts opportunities to clubs to adventure therapeutic outings to supervised off-campus fun time. These specialized activities are one of the aspects that make us one of the best residential treatment centers for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other struggles.

The weekend at residential treatment centers for depression, is used as a time to break up the normal week schedule, but still holds significant therapeutic value.  Students expand the areas in which they practice their new found skills in a safe and structured way. Once a student has shown a consistent level of progress, her weekend schedule becomes even more flexible – she even has the opportunity to earn certain special trips and family visits!
