Asheville Academy for Girls, one of the United States’ best therapeutic boarding schools, is only for girls ages 10 – 14. This specific focus on this age group is an important difference from other programs. We can offer more intentional and meaningful support and guidance as girls this age are different than a 16 year old teenager. By treating and working with this age group (separate from older girls), we are able to keep the population with younger female issues specific to this age group.
As one of the best therapeutic boarding schools, Asheville Academy’s program is developmentally appropriate for this age group and for all-girls. Every member of our staff is trained and passionate about working with these unique needs. We recognize girls this age are not as introspective, deal in more concrete black and white terms, and prone to greater swings in emotions and attitudes.
Thanks for our specific focus on this unique age, we believe we see faster improvement and better long-term outcomes for the young girls.

The first days at our school can be emotional and heart wrenching, but we also know how much our program can benefit your struggling daughter. During the first day, your daughter will meet her primary therapist and you will be contacted about how your daughter is doing. We go through your daughter’s medications, allergies, etc.; we also inventory her possessions to make sure she has everything she will need during her stay. Then, during the first week, she’ll be provided with a a Teacher Guide, who will update you weekly about any academic progress. Learn more about a Student’s First Days>>
Now is a good time to make this decision. After your child’s stay at one of the best therapeutic boarding schools for girls, girls typically return home ready to build healthier relationships, are more resilient, and are happier and more self-confident.
