How Animals Help Heal

The Therapeutic Benefits of Animal Therapy

An extraordinary part of our clinical programming is our growing group of therapeutic animals. These animals are a unique attribute of Asheville Academy, and play an important role in helping girls improve their emotional awareness, express themselves openly, and develop accountability. Girls participate in caring for the animals and bond with them, helping foster relationship boundaries and communication.

Our therapeutic family of animals give girls the chance to experience happy and healthy relationships with a wide range of different animals on campus, from newly hatched chicks or bouncing baby goats to our farm dog Roger or our bunnies who love to be cuddled.
